This bitter sweet debut from the London via Glasgow female-fronted four piece is packed full of uplifting and storming indie pop offerings that demand to be played loud. Yet almost as a counterpoint the themes explored are often dark. But whether singing about love found in a graveyard, misery, or a bad feeling that won’t go away, there’s a sense that they have a tongue-in-cheek take on this gloomy territory and the mood never becomes oppressive. It’s all delivered with often beautiful harmonies and the exuberance of Echobelly, or recalls even earlier times with a raw jangly 80s guitar sound and the spirit of bands like the Shop Assistants.
