'7' was originally released in 2004 to huge acclaim, following his crucial 'Stoke' album this saw Jeck moving further into blissful worlds of almost antique ambience, beginning with the life-affirming beauty of 'Wholesome', possibly my favourite of Jeck's tracks. Sounding almost like a lost, crumbling offcut from Vangelis' 'Bladerunner' soundtrack or a crackling Lynchian symphony this sets the mood of '7' quite magically and prepares you for the skewed beauty to come. David Lynch would be without a doubt a good reference point for this record, not least the hissing symphonic menace of the 'Eraserhead' soundtrack - something which 'Museum' never fails to remind me of. To put it simply this is both an essential album from one of the great sound manipulators of our time and a crucial part of Touch's near-flawless catalogue.
