Dark Night Of The Soul is the highly acclaimed studio album from Danger Mouse and the late Mark Linkous of Sparklehorse. It's something of a cross-media spectacle, including contributions from notables in the fields of art, music and film, namely the photography of David Lynch, and the vocals of Gruff Rhys, Wayne Coyne, Julian Casablancas, Iggy Pop, Black Francis, Vic Chesnutt, and Jason Lyttle, with music and production shared by DM and Linkous. Internal ructions at the label almost caused the album to be shelved, but the recent tragic suicide of Linkous has possibly prompted a little leeway on the labels part, meaning it finally sees the light of day. In typical Sparklehorse style, these are highly accomplished and introspective songs, verging on pop but with a class of darkness and mood that lends it a higher status in the realm of rock music.
