Winter storms are punishingly cold and uncomfortable, but are an important source of water for spring growth. Likewise for Dead Confederate, the series of New Jersey blizzards that besieged the recording of sophomore album Sugar (a reference to the record snowfall) also heralded growth from the darker, somber realm of their critically acclaimed Wrecking Ball. With an evolving approach and focused, streamlined sound, and a guest appearance from Dinosaur Jr. frontman J Mascis, Sugar explores new styles beyond the aching, bleak psychadelia of the debut.

Coming off of the success of The Rat from Wrecking Ball, which received strong airplay at major alternative stations (Seattle, San Diego, Portland, Denver, Chicago, Boston, Seattle, more), as well as a network television debut under their belt, Dead Confederate return with Sugar. With countless tours across the world with the likes of Dinosaur Jr., The Whigs, Manchester Orchestra, Meat Puppets and more, the band is ready for their first true album to reach the masses at the end of the summer.
