Love Letter is one of three albums R. Kelly has planned for the second half of 2010, along with the similarly simple-titled Epic and Zodiac. On Love Letter, which Kells claims to be a fusion of his Happy People and TP2.com albums, the tracks are inspired by 50’s and 60’s R&B. The Motown-indebted single “When A Woman Loves” is the first example of this sound, and showcases the pyrotechnics Kelly’s voice is capable of while toning down his notorious horndog image. Kelly has made an entire career out of constant reinvention, but it’s hard to pinpoint a moment where he has promised to present so many sides of himself at the same time.
