At the very least, this is some of the most joyous, life-affirming music in existence. With this, their proper full-length debut, Malawian singer Esau Mwamwaya and London-based production duo Radioclit (Etienne Tron and Johan Karlberg) more than make good on the abundant promise of the freely downloadable mixtape -- the self-explanatory ESAU MWAMWAYA AND RADIOCLIT ARE THE VERY BEST -- that introduced their partnership to the world. The Very Best are able to sport such a ticklish moniker with evident aplomb: somehow, with these guys it comes off not so much as a boast (albeit an improbably credible one) but as an encapsulation of the boundless optimismand idealism reflected in their songs and in their sound --a fervent and infectious belief in the very best that music, joyfulness, and love can bring out in the world and in thehuman spirit.
