Dipset producer and MPC magician AraabMuzik was recently booked for EDC Las Vegas–America’s largest electronic/dance music festival – and for those who may only know him for his hip-hop antics, this might seem like a strange move. But then, literally days after the EDC announcement, come’s along Araab’s latest project: Electronic Dream. It’s all starting to make sense now. The eleven-track LP features hip-hop’s most prolific producer venturing off into the peculiar world of electronic dance music, experimenting with trance-y synths, hypnotic rhythms, and intergalactic sounds. Seasoned Araab fans might remember the Dipset Trance Party mixtape him and fellow producers sort of jokingly put out last year. But there’s no games this time around. Electronic Dream is a serious, label released record from a producer who’s showing he’s not afraid to try new things. And in the end, staying innovative and original is all we can really ask for from musicians, regardless of the outcome.
